Meet Lyla

I choose to facilitate better health and wellness by supporting growing families as a Doula, Mentor, and Yoga Teacher.

After supporting a close friend through two of her pregnancies and births, and then being initiated as a mother through my own births in 2011 and 2014, I was inspired to become a doula. I feel called to support, educate, and guide growing families throughout the childbearing year. I began offering doula support in 2017 as a back up doula. From 2018-2020 I worked with and learned from my mentor and doula partner, Melanie Corrigan, a Certified Birthing From Within Mentor and Doula. She shared her wisdom and guidance from her 20 year career in birth work with me, as I began to step deeper into this work. She set me on the path of training with Birthing From Within, and I am currently pursuing certification as a Mentor and Doula through this revolutionary and internationally recognized organization. I take a heart centered, holistic approach to birth work. I seek to not only share tools and resources which will help you navigate the uncharted waters of pregnancy and birth, but also to guide you towards your innate inner wisdom, to support you in tuning into the present moment, so that each step of the way, you can take the next best step for you and your baby. I aim to support you in having the most satisfying birth experience possible, one in which you feel seen, heard, and deeply supported. This transformational and sacred stage of life has the potential to be truly empowering.  As a natural nurturer and mindful listener, I am honored to hold space for expecting parents to cross the threshold into a new chapter of life, as baby makes it’s way earth side.

I have been committed to my yoga practice for two decades, and have been teaching yoga since 2012. Prenatal, Postpartum, Gentle Hatha, and Restorative yoga are my areas of expertise. As a child, I watched my mother practicing yoga in our living room. But it was not until I entered college that I discovered the gifts yoga has to offer. I took many yoga classes at SF State while I was earning my BA in psychology. I then spent years studying with Britt Fohrman and many other talented teachers in San Francisco. In 2008 I completed a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training with Yoga Tree in San Francisco. And in 2010 I completed an additional 100hr training with Britt Fohrman to teach Yoga for the Childbearing Year. After teaching public classes in Sonoma County from 2012-2020, I currently offer private small group and one-on-one instruction. I offer nourishing yoga practices in which you will have the opportunity to connect movement with breath, feel deeply into your body, find balance between effort and ease, and have the opportunity to relax deeply.

I make my home in Sonoma County, CA with my husband and two sons on a small farm in Windsor. At home I am happiest in the kitchen, the garden, and caring for our many animals, including two dogs, a cat, hens and a rabbit.  The forest and the ocean soothe my soul, as does spending time family and friends.  It is with much gratitude that I am able to do work that is in alignment with my greatest passions.
